how to put a track back on a mini excavator?

rubber track.png

Global Trust Rubber Tracks are available for all rubber tracked mini excavators, rubber tracked track loaders and rubber tracked carriers including: ASV, Bobcat, Takeuchi, John Deere, Case, Caterpillar, Kubota, Doosan, Morooka, New Holland, Mustang, Gehl, Yanmar, Komatsu, Terex, Ditch Witch, Vermeer and many other brands.

Rubber tracks can be very gentle on soft surfaces such as lawns, but over time the rubber will work off. This process speeds up when using rubber tracks on hard surfaces such as asphalt of concrete. However, changing rubber tracks is a very simple process that can make your mini excavator look and feel new again.

With a wrench and a little elbow grease – almost anybody can install a set of rubber tracks by themselves. Remember to use proper safety precautions when doing any sort of maintenance or adjustments to your machine. This job requires two people to perform safely, so make sure the fridge is stocked with a few cold ones to bait a friend to help you! Make sure that both you and your friend are wearing proper safety gear: high-visibility vests, safety glasses and steel-toed boots. Also, ensure your work area is free of obstacles, debris or people close-by.

Step 1: Remove the grease fitting near the track idler.

Step 2: Using a pry bar or the bucket of the machine, push the track idler toward the center of the track. Remove and dispose of all used grease.

Step 3: Remove the old track and replace with the new track.

Step 4: Reinsert and tighten the grease fitting with a wrench.

Step 5: Using a grease gun and new tubes of grease, apply grease into the fitting. Adding tension to the new track. When the track has a sag of roughly 1 to 2 inches (depending on length of tracks) or matches the sag of the other track, stop adding grease.

Step 6: Lift the side of the machine and remove the wood blocks. Lower to the ground and drive the excavator back and forth.
